Before we meet

Before we meet, I offer a brief telephone consultation at no charge. This 10-15 minute conversation provides an opportunity for us to discuss the concerns bringing you to treatment, any questions you might have, and my way of working in therapy. We can also discuss scheduling an in-person meeting.

Prior to our first meeting, if you wish to use your insurance, I recommend that you contact your insurance carrier to verify your coverage for out-of-network therapy services. Please see the FAQ for more detailed information on what questions you may want to ask.

Forms

After we talk by phone, I will send you a few forms to help us get started. Please plan to complete the forms through the client portal prior to our first meeting.

Initial consultation

Our work together will begin with an initial consultation period of one to three sessions. During this time, we will discuss your history, your current situation and concerns, and your goals for therapy. As positive outcomes in therapy are closely connected to a good fit and a safe relationship between therapist and client, the consultation period will give us both the opportunity to get to know one another and to determine if I am the right person to provide the services you are seeking. At the end of our consultation, if we agree that it feels like a good fit, we can schedule ongoing appointments.
